OFFICIAL LEAGUE RULES & MATCH REGULATIONS

1. MATCH FORMAT
• Standard matches may be played as either 4v4 or 5v5.
• The final match format can be determined by mutual agreement between both team captains before the match begins.
• If both teams have 5 players available, the default format is 5v5 (assuming the match up is competitive and isn't lopsided)
• If one team only has 4 players available, the preferred format is 4v4.
• If both teams have 4 players available and both captains agree to use substitutes, the match may instead be played as 5v5.
• Captains may mutually agree to play either 4v4, 5v5 or 6v6 regardless of the default recommendation.
• The Official Subspace Commission reserves the right to override format decisions, match decisions, rule interpretations, or any other decisions when deemed necessary. Depending on turn out or if said match looks significantly uneven, the commission may decide the format to maintain a fair, balanced and competitive match

2. SUBSTITUTE PLAYERS
• A substitute may only be used if a rostered player is unavailable or does not show up.
• Substitute players will be selected from the mid-tier player pool.
• Teams may not replace a missing player with a top-tier or significantly stronger player.
• This rule exists to maintain competitive balance and to prevent teams from benefiting when a player is absent.

3. CAPTAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Captains are responsible for communicating shortly before each match.
• Captains must agree on:
    • Match format (4v4, 5v5, or 6v6)
    • Any substitute players being used
    • Any special match agreements
• Once both captains agree, the decision is considered final unless both captains agree to change it.
• if captains don't care or communicate format the league coordinator will just decide.

4. CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH FORMAT
• The Championship Match format (4v4, 5v5, or 6v6) can be determined by mutual agreement between both team captains prior to the start of the match.
• If the captains cannot reach an agreement, the default Championship format will be 5v5.
• The Championship Match will be a Best of 3 series.
• The first team to win 2 games will be declared the Champion.

5. SPORTSMANSHIP
• All players are expected to compete respectfully and in good faith.
• Captains should make every reasonable effort to resolve minor issues before contacting league administration.
• The Subspace League referees and Commission reserve the right to issue suspensions or disciplinary action for rule violations, unsportsmanlike conduct, disrespect to the league operators, or actions that harm the integrity of the league.

6. LOW-TIER PLAYERS
• Low-tier players (e.g. Vidiot or Cyclone) do not count toward the required team size. If a team's final player is a designated low-tier player, the match may be played as a 4v4 to maintain competitive balance. Teams may also substitute a league approved mid-tier player for a low-tier player if needed, with approval from the official subspace commission.

7. CAPTAIN's HOLD RULE

  • Each team captain is allowed one (1) !hold per match, for a maximum of 2 minutes.

  • A !hold may only be called when both teams are not actively engaged in combat, such as:

    • At the end of a round.

    • At the start of a round before teams meet in the middle of a base and begin combat

  • A !hold can be used for reasons such as:

    • Waiting for a substitute.

    • A short restroom break.

    • Strategic planning or intentionally skipping a base.

  • Calling !hold while teams are actively battling is not permitted. If a captain calls !hold during combat, or uses more than 1 hold, it will count as a point loss.

8. LEAGUE AUTHORITY & OVERSIGHT
• All players and teams are expected to respect the league coordinator and follow league decisions.
• The league coordinator reserves the right to override format decisions, match decisions, rule interpretations, or any other decisions when deemed necessary.
• The league coordinator has final authority over any situation not specifically covered within the official rules.
• These decisions are made to ensure fairness, competitive balance, and the overall integrity of the league.
• Disrespect toward league coordinators or refusal to follow league decisions may result in penalties or disciplinary action.
